Apollo 11 Command Module "Columbia"

Hi. This was the second of the models I made to mark the 50th Commemoration of the 1969 Moon Landing. The base model is the hi-res 3D scan available from the Smithsonian. The real “Columbia” has been very “conserved” over the years and looks little like she did when first recovered. I was able to modify another Apollo hatch model to print and fit. Contempory photos show much of the aluminium(?) paint/foil coating was still present. Printed in white ABS (250/110c end/bed temp) painted with model acylics, ink and sliver enamel. Really enjoyed researching this and trying match the real spacecraft weathering.
Thanks for looking

Very nice!

Very interesting use of a 3d printer. Impressive both the printing and the painting.
